Guatemala: Where to Eat in Antigua
Antigua, Guatemala is a small town outside of Guatemala City and a must-visit stop destination on any Guatemala trip. I’d suggest stopping over either before or after a visit to Lake Atitlan since its the best spot to get transportation to and from the lake. It also had some of the best food options in all of Guatemala. Check out my list of the best restaurants below!
Breakfast at Maya Papaya
hostel
1a Calle Poniente 20, Antigua Guatemala
Maya Papaya was easily one of my favorite hostels I have ever stayed at. One big bonus of staying at this hostel is FREE BREAKFAST. Not only is this a great way to save money, but the breakfast was delicious and very filling. It included a choice of two breakfast platters as well as tea or coffee. Check out my full review of the hostel here.

Lunch at Cafe Stela
3a Calle Oriente 43, Antigua Guatemala
For lunch, wander on over to the garden paradise of Cafe Stela. I actually stumbled upon this place during a short “layover” in Antigua while waiting for my bus to Lake Atitlan. I loved it so much, I came back two more times after I returned from Lake Atitlan to stay in Antigua for a few days. Their smoothies, coffee drinks, and variety of toasts are amazing plus they have vegan options (always a rarity while traveling). Their food is not only healthy but super yummy and you can sit in their gorgeous green courtyard. This cafe is a must while in Antigua. And once you try it, I promise you’ll be back for more.

Dinner at Frida’s
5a Avienida Norte #29, Arco de Santo Catalina, Antigua Guatemala
Next to Antigua’s famed golden Arco de Santa Catalina is a delicious dinner spot – Frida’s, a Mexican and Mezcal bar. Being American, I am always on the search for good Mexican food and this place hit the spot! The chic interior was beautifully decorated, complete with murals and beautiful tile floors. The food was delicious and their drinks were incredible (try the margaritas)!

Desert at La Churroteca
1ra Calle Poniente 8b, Antigua Guatemala
Complete the night with the best churros in Antigua! Right down the street from Frida’s hop into La Churroteca and sit in their swings while enjoying a creative churro creation. From ice cream to cookies to even candy bars, La Churroteca has a wide variety of options for your perfect churro combination. You can also take a box to go (you can never have too many churros)!
